History of the Sari for Kids
The sari is a traditional garment worn by women in India. Its history dates back to ancient times, and it has evolved over the years. Originally, it was a simple garment made of cotton or silk, but it has since been embellished with embroidery, beading, and other decorative elements. Today, the sari is still worn for special occasions and is a symbol of Indian culture and tradition.
The Steps for How to Wear a Sari for Kids
Start by draping the sari around the waist, with the right end slightly longer than the left.
Tuck the top edge of the sari into the waistband of the skirt or petticoat, making sure it's snug.
Take the longer end of the sari and wrap it once around the waist, bringing it back to the front.
Take the remaining fabric and make pleats (folds) about 5-6 inches wide and tuck them into the waistband at the center of the waist.
Take the remaining fabric and drape it over the left shoulder, making sure it hangs down evenly at the back.
Secure the sari on the shoulder with a safety pin.
Finally, accessorize with jewelry and other traditional wear to complete the look.
